Why does adding a block on row 3 or 4 disable the global EQ?

Why does this happen? I’m at 48 % CPU, and I’m utilizing all 4 rows. Adding a “doubler” block to row 3 or 4 disables the global EQ, while the reported CPU load stays at 48 %. I have read many places that the global EQ is using rows 1 and 2. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there something wrong with something?

Hello and welcome,

The QC, having four processing cores, splits the processing as two cores for the top two rows on the grid, and two cores for the bottom two rows on the grid.

The global EQ and input gate are processed on the same cores as the top two rows. If you fill up those top rows with too many blocks (or too much CPU used there), then CorOS will disable the ability to use global EQ.

You need to balance out your blocks between Rows 1 & 2, and Rows 3 & 4. Maybe bring that amp block from the end of Row 1, down to the beginning of Row 3. That may free up enough CPU in the top 2 rows such that you can use global EQ again.

Thanks, but did you read my question? The global EQ is working fine, but if I add a doubler block to row 3 or 4, it suddenly becomes disabled.

Try moving your amp block to Row 3 and see if that changes. Really.

I know it works, the question is why it behaves this way.

I don’t have a full answer, sorry. But your top two rows are very full as shown above. It would appear that availability of the global EQ is not strictly determined by available CPU in Row 1 & 2 alone.
