I’m trying to emulate an amp connected to 2 speaker cabinets. Looking at the screenshot here, have I done it correctly?

Hello and welcome.

Set the output of Row 2 to Multi-Out and you should be good.

You can also merge the signal on Row 2 back to Row 1 with a mixer. Then you’ll have the two cabinets in parallel. If you do this, you may notice that the volume is suddenly louder. This is the result of two signals being mixed together (assuming they are in phase with each other). You can compensate for this by turning the mixer output down by about -3 dB.

You could just use a stereo cab block (pan both cabs however you’d like and adjust the levels). Probably easier than setting up two different blocks and a splitter/mixer

OP didn’t mention whether they were trying to get stereo sound, or blend two cabs in mono.

OH! Duh. So I’m trying to run them IDEALLY in mono. But am now curious to know how it would be done in stereo.

Either way the stereo block could do that as far as I know. Both methods mentioned work, but maybe it’s easier for them not to do a more complicated routing

If we’re saying that a stereo cab can be used to achieve 2x blended mono, then OP would probably need to manually set the output to either Output 1 or Output 2. Otherwise, the Multi-Out would resort to playing the stereo cab signal, in stereo.

Hey @theonlyjedi, give @SelfTitledLP’s stereo cab idea a shot. You may need to play with the row output to “force” it to mono. [I will try to confirm this evening.]

The splitter/mixer solution will definitely work. If you have phase issues, you can flip the polarity in one of the cab blocks. If you need more control than that, there’s a block called Phase Doctor that will let you fine tune phase differences.

…I don’t use stereo, so I’ve never once loaded a stereo cab in the grid on my QC. I have to rely on the rest of you folks to know what to do with the stereo blocks. 😉

The panning should just be the same as the single cab block. It’s actually not technically mono since you can pan the mics in stereo if you want. Whether that will yield a stereo sound is debatable, but not the topic for here.

Yeah, that can work. Stereo cab block does allow two cabs in mono also. Just pan them both to the center.

Almost, but not quite. Stereo cab blocks can have their _microphones_ panned to the center, but one stereo cab block doesn’t allow for two separate cabinets.

However, a single IR block can allow you to blend two cab IRs. Use “Dual (M)” or “Dual (M) Lite” for mono. Also, “Dual (ST)” and “Dual (ST) Lite” can be used for mono if both cab IRs are set to center balance:

 ![Screenshot 2026-09-19 at 2.24.22 PM](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex020/uploads/neuraldsp/original/2X/9/97955b5a368ae94458597ea9b0fa2a5c1a49e934.png)

[That said, it’s weird to me that mono cab blocks and mono IR loader blocks also have a pan control, but let’s move on.]

I spent some time rebuilding my original suggestions into a single preset to see what works well:

 ![Screenshot 2026-09-19 at 2.10.26 PM](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex020/uploads/neuraldsp/original/2X/4/4c056d347b1b0952b33f6a55aedf28c0911c1258.png)

The top two rows are set with separate mono cabs in each row, with both rows going to Multi-Out. The bottom two rows have the same mono cabs in each row, this time set in parallel with a mixer. Amp blocks are identical high gain (D-Cell Hisbert Ch3).

With all of the same EQ, gate, and volume blocks on the end of the rows… They sound different. In the top set, with both cabs following their own individual paths to the output, there’s a ton more low end and low mids.

However, in the bottom set, the mixer appears to tame those wooly lows a bit, and helps even out some frequencies before sending to the EQ block. Also, I only needed to load up one set of those post-cabinet blocks instead of two.

One last detail. How you use the splitter makes a difference:

 ![Screenshot 2026-09-19 at 2.41.23 PM](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex020/uploads/neuraldsp/original/2X/4/4122fded0a47c2ebe1bac4c581188555f8f52e86.png)

The splitter defaults to “Balance”, which acts like a volume blend control between the two rows. If you set it to “A/B”, you can control the volume of each row independently. This makes a difference in how much volume reaches each of the cabinets.

Experiment to your liking, but I would suggest setting it to A/B, leveling A and B both to 0 dB so each cabinet gets full volume from your amp signal, then setting a mixer to -3 dB to compensate.

\* _whew_ \*

I hope this is helpful and puts this conversation to rest.

Wow! That’s a lot of info. Clearly I have a lot to learn about this device. So what do I need to do to my setup referenced in the screen shot I provided to make a simple emulation of an amp with two 412 speaker cabs (full stack)?

You’re basically already there. You just have to choose whether you want to send both cabs to the output (as you’re doing already) or blend both cabs with a mixer in the row.

Blending the cabs is a very common thing for recording. You can get a specific tone by having more or less of each cab.

As for making your modeler sound like a full stack…..that’s not really what it would be like for any modeler. Yes you can blend two mic’ed up cabinets for a recording….but thats basically like the sound of microphones on cabinet in an iso booth. That’s the closest you’ll get to the idea of sounding like you’re playing a full stack in that environment. The sound of microphones on a cabinet is very different than the sound of cabinets just in a room in front of you. For that you need actual cabinets in the room with you.

You’ll probably want to play around with what cabinets you’re using to get a blend of what you like tonally. Not every set of cabs will sound great with one another (just like in real life).

What are you monitoring with? Studio monitors, headphones, FRFR speakers?
