Transparent Drives and Updates to Existing Drives

Hey! Back to using my quad cortex more frequently after recent updates, and super stoked for John Mayer X coming to the platform.

As a primarily blues/country/RnB player who also dabbles into worship on Sunday, it would be amazing to see a few things happen in the modeled drives section. (I have come to love the modeled drives as they save me DSP allowing me to use V2 captures of my favorite compressor)

  1. Updates to Brit Blues. Currently the output has to be maxed out to achieve unity at low gain settings. I believe this is due to the perceived low end the pedal adds, but more level on tap would be helpful. Something more similar to the Browne Carbon.
  2. King of Tone or similar pedal would be great, piggybacking off of the “updates to Brit Blues”
  3. Hotcake or similar
  4. KTR or a switch on the Myth Drive to have this flavor
  5. More boost flavored drives. Things that sound like the Twilight Pulse Audio Konstante or similar. Or things like the daily driver that push mids but remain transparent. This is very common setups for American music especially in the southeastern region and is something that’s lacking that the working musician relies on when using an analog pedalboard.

These are all just ideas. The Rick Beato video really gave some helpful insight into all that the Neural team is doing in the background for development and all of the hats everyone is wearing. So this may be a bit of an undertaking.

If the V2 captures had less DSP limitations I would just capture these items and not request it. But due to the limits, I am reserving the updated technology for things the modeling currently can’t achieve, like specific responses of fuzzes drives and compressors.

If it’s possible, it’d be amazing. This unit is an incredible piece of technology and adding these things would take it to a whole new audience of players that would have probably purchased an Hx stomp or pedals instead. It doesn’t have to be super specific but these flavors would help.

thanks and wishing the team a merry Christmas!!

This is faithful to the actual, original Marshall Blues Breaker pedal. At low gain settings, you DO have to crank the volume pot to achieve unity level. This actually is one of the main mods people do to that circuit (in the JHS Morning Glory there’s a simple boost stage right at the end of the circuit to alleviate that very issue).

So…that’s normal behaviour and actually show how close the model is to the actual pedal.

As for boosts, we already have a bunch, not even including what comes bundled with plugins (AFAIK each plugin has at least one). And there’s always captures if you need anything more.

Yes, thanks for making this distinction! I am aware the older pedal does this but having some modern adaptations of classics or just more classics in general (timmy, zendrive) would be awesome.

And yes, plugins bring some (but not all) of the tools I’m describing to the table, albeit geared more towards aggressive rock most of the time.

There’s more than a few KOT pedals already in there. They sound great.

Yes the captures are great! However they eat a lot of dsp when running a heavy rig. It would be great to have a few more modeled-in options. also most of the “low gain” style drives from plugins seem to be modeled after tube screamer style pedals so maybe in the distant future it would be great to see a couple options and a boost-ish effect besides the!BB Pre. Everything that’s in there is awesome! It would be sick to see it expanded upon in the future

Have you looked at all of them even the ones version 1 and version 2. Because there’s quite a lot. Plus, the app on your cell has a ton. Plus if you have a favorite pedal plug it in to the return/send.
