Quad Cortex Mini – ~1 second delay when switching Scenes with “John Mayer Justa Boost” enabled

Device: Quad Cortex Mini
CorOS Version: 4.1.0

I’ve found a reproducible issue when using the Guitar Overdrive – John Mayer Justa Boost.

If the pedal is active and the BOOST parameter is set to ON, switching between Scenes causes a very noticeable delay. It takes almost 1 second for the Scene change to take effect.

If I disable the BOOST parameter, Scene switching returns to normal.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add Guitar Overdrive – John Mayer Justa Boost to a preset.
  2. Turn the block ON.
  3. Set BOOST = ON.
  4. Assign its parameters/state to Scenes.
  5. Switch between Scenes.
  6. There is a noticeable delay of almost 1 second before the new Scene takes effect.
  7. Set BOOST = OFF and repeat the test — Scene switching is normal again.

This is particularly noticeable when changing Scenes while playing and makes it difficult to use this effect for live performance.

I’ve attached a screenshot of the preset/block configuration.

Could you please check if this behavior can be reproduced?

Hey @jrcestari - just a question, when switching between scenes that you’re experiencing the delay with, is this when switching between scenes that have the boost activated and another with it off (e.g., Scene A with boost to Scene B without)?

Some blocks/devices with those sorts of switches will introduce a gap (tends to be indicated with the little circle and I in it), this can be seen on some devices when switching between valve type and drive type, and so forth.

If so, it’s likely to be expected. If you are trying to get scenes with overdrive boost and one without, you’re probably best adding two overdrives with each setting, then using scenes to toggle them on and off. That should help get the gapless switching

Not a bug; click on that little “i” info icon and it explains this is expected

Yeah, that’s normal for that setting adjustment in models
