Today is my first day with the QC. Compared to my FM9, it doesn’t seem as loud? I have the master volume dimed on the unit and it’s not as loud as my FM9 when it also maxed. It seemed like the FM9 had way more output and I could get it to levels that would blow my head off; the QC doesn’t seem to go that loud. What am I missing?
How are you listening to it? Thru headphones? Is this for all presets?
Are you using the factory power supply?
Output 1/2 XLR into studio monitors (Yamaha). Yes, this is for all the presets.
Im having the same realization coming from a FM9 to a QC mini i got this past week. From my research the FM9 does have a higher output at +20 dBu vs the QC at +15.5 dBu. Not sure if there’s much that can be done unfortunately
Neural might set the overall output level for their presets to be lower than Fractal. It doesn’t matter what the output level of either device is, if Neural’s is supposed to be louder on paper.
Neural probably sets it lower so it doesn’t clip or make the limiter on the output engage. Lots of plugin companies low to make the default setting of their plugins boost volume to whatever track it’s added too so it seems like it sounds better. Wouldn’t be surprised if Fractal tries to have their presets at the highest level possible before they’re clipping.
I had exactly the same experience coming from an FM3. Output’s 1/2 are significantly lower in gain (I believe 3/4 are higher, but wanted to use the XLR cables I had). I’ve just turned up the gain on my interface and it’s sounding great. I wouldn’t worry about it!
Yeah it’s plenty loud just not nearly as loud as the FM9 so at first I thought the hardware was problematic or I was missing some sort if deeper audio setting.
thanks for the reply
