On-screen Shutdown option for Quad Cortex Mini without switch on/of

Hi Neural DSP team,

I would like to suggest adding an on-screen Shutdown option to CorOS, particularly for the Quad Cortex Mini.

The QC Mini can already be configured to power on automatically when it receives power. However, shutting it down still requires pressing the physical mechanical Power Button first to open the Power & Locking Functions menu, and then selecting Shutdown on the touchscreen.

It would be great to have a software option such as:

Settings → Device Settings → Power → Shut Down

This would allow users to power on the QC Mini automatically when power is supplied and safely shut it down entirely through the touchscreen, without routinely using the mechanical Power Button.

Since the actual shutdown process is already handled by CorOS after selecting Shutdown on the touchscreen, this seems like a useful quality-of-life feature that could potentially be implemented entirely in software.

It would also reduce unnecessary wear on the mechanical Power Button over many years of use.

Thanks for considering it!

This feature already exists natively.
Just pull out the power cable… :stuck_out_tongue:

If the OP is asking for a feature request in the interest of reducing unnecessary potential wear on the mechanical power button, then suggesting they just pull out the power cable isn’t a viable solution. More unnecessary potential wear–especially on the Mini, with its twist-lock connector.

Most modern buttons, switches etc. are rated to handle more than a million presses (millions in most cases). If you pressed your power button 20 times a day every day for 10 years you would be at 73,000 presses. The QC is about 6 years old and the mini about 9 months. I think the button will be fine. My Zoom MS-50g pedal is 14 years old and has been put through its paces by multiple people. Not one malfunctioning button or foot switch.

Exactly! And things are made to be used. Mine is completely freestyle, no protector, no caps, nothing. I like to see it totally naked… looool.
