Hey there. Wanted to get some thoughts on putting together a chain to record acoustic guitar. Hooking up a nice mic and recording the guitar through my QC. Seems easy enough, but what blocks would you use? I’m thinking compressor, maybe an EQ, maybe a little (or no) reverb, etc.
Anyone done this before? I have a really nice interface and Neve style preamp but wanted to see what kind of results I could get with the QC, especially with its portability and recording in some different places outside my normal space. Looking for inspiration.
Thanks!
Get in there and experiment!
Compressor: I keep coming back to Jewel and Legendary 87 for incoming clean guitar signals.
EQ: Any, but Parametric 8 will give you the most amount of fine-tuning control. If you need that.
Reverb: Any. Be sure to check out the new reverbs that got released with CorOS 4.0.0, they’re awesome.
Maybe try a modulation like a chorus, and turn the mix mostly down for some movement. The Chief DC2W (Boss Dimension C) is one of my favorites.
Thanks man. The compressor and EQ seem pretty obvious. I might try some light pitch shifting.
