Line 6 Pod Pro Insane Sound

Ok i am not going to lie. I would not have swapped from the Line 6 Pod Pro Mk1 (yes the rack mount version) if the power on them would work on modern diesel generators at festivals and the 70,000 Tons of Metal gig. We have sadly confirmed they will not. They reboot intermittently but a lot and even in sync, confirmed with over 7 different devices (yes we had spares for the spares) at 4 different festivals now to great distress.

Anyway - my question, request, plea is - How do i get the Insane Patch recreated on a Neural? Capturing yes of course we tried that, well the process works but the sound is not the same. Not like when you capture an amp. I have scoured the internet and ran this past AI a number of times and it confidently sets up a sound that is unusable live or in rehearsal for that matter.

We have a great sound out of the Neurals using the amps cabs etc but i just want my old sound back.

Any idea’s?

Find a 5150 amp model in the QC, crank the gain to maximum.

Add an EQ block after that. Use a low shelf to boost everything below 200 Hz, and a high shelf to boost everything above 6 KHz. Both by a minimum of +6 dB.

EDIT: I’m half joking, but this would actually be where I would start to replicate Line 6’s Insane tone.

Interesting…I gigged with a Pod Pro (the red one). It was a boat anchor with knobs compared to the QC but I never had a problem with questionable power. With some patience and experimentation, I’m sure you can create a far superior version of “Insane”, with even deeper emotional issues. DC’s suggestion should get you started.

in what way was your captured tone different? Less or more gain? Noticeable EQ differences? If you can narrow down the specifics it might help. Another approach is to tone-match in a DAW by creating an EQ-file sort of like an IR of the desired tone. You could create an IR or capture from that process that would be like a final filter to run your core tone thru.

Ok i will give that a go, and report back. Will not be right away, and thanks for the help.

Yeah we used the for years with no problems anywhere despite the bulking carrying around we loved them. The we saw the power problem become a localised to the Pods as we normally gig with 4 of them - 2 onstage and 2 spares and we saw that 4 would fail on the generator power but all would be fine once back at the hotel for example. I agree that the quad cortex is likely to be better eventually but that insane patch had something i can’t quite so far dial back in. Thanks for help though.

Ok i apologise as this respons is going to sound a bit vague as we have since removed the capture. But from what i remember it felt thin - the immediate power and volume that the Insane patch had this did not. Yeah not very scientific and as for tone matching thats going to be another lesson for me as not really into this at the level some are but willing to learn if need be. Thanks for the reply.

@Grimlance You might have just asked the single most important question in all of digital amp-dom: how do I get the Line 6 Insane sound? There is nothing like it, truly :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: It is unhinged in the most fun way

how does this one compare to what you’re shooting for?
