"Initial State" for Latch Emulation (EXP Footswitches)

The Core Issue: Currently, “Latch Emulation” on EXP ports acts as a global state in CorOS. This causes severe desynchronization when switching presets, as the global state overrides the preset’s saved block state.

My Real-World Use Case:

  • Preset A: Uses a Wah (bypass assigned to EXP 2 momentary footswitch).

  • Preset B: Uses a Whammy (bypass controlled strictly by Scenes; footswitch is unassigned).

  • The Trap: While heavily rocking the Whammy in Preset B, I sometimes accidentally click the toe-switch. Since my expression pedal has no LED, I don’t even notice the switch was triggered.

  • The Live Disaster: When I switch back to Preset A, the Wah is completely engaged because the global latch state was toggled in the background.

  • Gig View Blindness: Since I perform using Gig View, I can’t see the block states on the screen. It takes me an awkward amount of time to realize the Wah is on and fix my tone mid-song.

The Proposed Solution: Please add an “Initial State” parameter (e.g., Default OFF) when assigning an EXP footswitch to a block.

When a preset loads, it should reset the virtual latch and respect this predefined initial state, rather than inheriting a global toggle state left over from a previous preset.

Has anyone else fallen into this live performance trap? What workarounds are you guys using right now besides Auto-Engage?

I have run into this exact issue. Every time I power on my QC, it defaults to the switch activated (wah on). I have also had it stick on unexpectedly when switching presets as you mentioned. With the whole band playing, I sometimes don’t notice right away until my guitar sound really sticks out (in a bad way).

Since the toe switch on my pedal is momentary, there is no LED. In theory, a momentary toe switch should allow each individual preset to have it’s own default state, if the QC handled it that way. Likely, they are trying to create one consistent behavior for latching and momentary switches, but I would still like to have the option.

So far, the only workaround I have is to use up one of my QC switches and place the wah effect on the top row. That allows me to glance down and see if it is on or off.
