Hi all,
I’ve read up on this a bit. My understanding is that the NC is not grounded through the power supply.
I am currently running a small test rig; just the NC powered by an Acoustic Power1 power supply - 9V/2000ma.
I then have the NC Output 1 into a powered speaker, which is grounded, through a TRS cable. (EBS Deluxe TRS.)
I am getting such a bad interference that the sound of the guitar is basically useless; it’s not even like a buzz, it’s taken over the sound entirely.
Any suggestions?
I have a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 3 on the way as I was planning to use it as my primary power supply on my NC board, but I’m panicking a bit right now. Never had an issue even close to this with my QC in years. (Other than a silly Rockboard Module that I would never touch again.)
Cheers, Alex
Perhaps it’s even an unstable/dirty power issue? Could it be related to the power supply I’m using even if its grounded via the TRS?
First things first, have you tried powering it with a different supply, such through the USB port?
Also, have you tried the ground lift switch?
So I tried it through my Sweet Foot Pedals power supply (typically used for my QC, not a single issue ever before) and it was worse.
I will try USB-C this morning to check that out.
Yes, ground lift enabled/disabled, issue persists.
Tried through USB-C.
initially was okay. But 10 minutes in, buzz started and it’s insanely loud.
I took apart its Nano Cortex circuit board and found some pins connected to the casing. I believe it is grounded through the shell.
Someone will probably laugh at me, but because it was intermittent it was hard to nail down.
I am 99% sure it’s my guitars input jack.
Hadn’t had an issue with it at all until I plugged in the Nano, so it was the last possible thing on my mind.

That’s good news for the Nano and your monitors if true. Have you tried a different guitar just to make sure?

yep, once I was able to replicate it, I tried with another guitar, no issue, switched back to the original guitar, same issue!
