FX Unit after the Nano Cortex?

I’ve always used the Nano Cortex with a TRS-to-XLR cable to a power amp, which I understands grounds the Nano Cortex.

I’m interested in running some type of FX unit after the Nano, but that would connect with just a TS cable and then that FX unit would connect to the amp.

In that situation, is the Nano ungrounded? Is that a problem (noisy?) and is there another way to ground it? Thanks!

I guess I’ll have to just try it. I can’t use a balanced connection to an FX unit because none of them have balanced inputs.

I use a CIOKs to power it.

You might experience noise and/or you might not… No harm in trying

Except I have to buy an FX unit. But I can always just return it I guess.

I’m just surprised no one else seems to do this. I’m thinking of adding a VP4 or Timeline to have some whackier delays and such.

Well fwiw I don’t have a delay pedal around but I do have just true bypass pedals. I put one of those (in bypass) after the Nano (connected with just a TS cable) and then that into my amp.

it was not any nosier. It wasn’t as loud (now an unbalanced connection to the power amp) but the volume knob fixed that.

I’m have FX after my nano. I put delay and reverb after it. Use an isolated power supply. USB power creates hum. Also use good quality effects. Budget often introduces noise. Took me a while to figure that out , ground and shielding guitars and cables. If you also your nano for an audio interface get a usb noise isolator. Sits between your computer and the nano.

Thanks! I now run a Fractal VP4 after the Nano; all powered by Cioks things. Works great (usb from the VP4 works well too), though I bought a separate DI/LI box the balance the outputs of the VP4. No hum or buzz at all.

Hi, I’m no expert when it comes to the Nano but I use mine with pedals before and after it. Because I use the Fender switcher with these extra FX there’s a pre and post buffer which can be disabled in the switcher. This helps reduce noise but if you find it necessary you could drop a noise gate in the chain. For info I use 6 separate pedals plus the Airstep and toggle between all my options. It works really well for me so maybe you should try it. Best of luck!!
