FX Loop volumes are extremely low on QC Mini (FX1 & FX2)

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Quad Cortex Mini, and overall the sound is fantastic! However, I’ve run into an issue with the FX Loops.

I connected a Volume Pedal to FX Loop 1 and a Boost Pedal to FX Loop 2, but the output volume for both loops is extremely low.

Here is what I’ve checked so far:

  • In the Global Settings, both Send and Return volumes for the jacks are set to 0dB.

  • The FX Loop block levels on the grid are set to 0.0dB, with Mix = 100%.

Has anyone else encountered this issue, or know how to resolve it? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you just plugged in your patch cables directly from the send/return of each fx loop? The fx loops are kinda notorious for boosting the signal when set at the default, so I would recommend to check your cables first.

Aside from that, I would highly suggest using an expression pedal for your volume (with a volume block in the chain) and a boost block within the chain as well instead. You’ll introduce a decent amount of latency when using both fx loops, especially if you’re using multiple rows.

It could be an impedance issue : your passive volume pedal is acting as a load on the relatively low impedance Fx send (560 ohm) this it will act as a voltage divider. Try adding a buffer before the volume pedal.

However, the best way is to use your volume pedal as an expression pedal and control volume via a block in. teh chain.
