Do soundcards have any effect on DSP power or lowering latency?

I typically set my latency to 256, but using Neural plugins can cause all types of clicks and noise because the computer isn’t strong enough to handle it. I have a Intel(R) Core™ i9-9940X CPU @ 3.30GHz 3.31 GHz and a 1080, 64 gigs of ram and 2080ti.

I have an apollo twin soundcard, but Im curious if I get a “better” soundcard, if that can allow me to lower the latency to 256 without clicks? What can I do to lower the latency, without freezing effects, bouncing, etc. ?

both your computer and sound card are very capable or running full studio setup, not only plugins from NDSP.

I have 8-core i7, 64GB RAM, MOTU M4, and I am running Cubase Pro loaded with tracks and plugins basically without problems.

You shall check your OS setup and get rid of anything that runs in the background. Also - switch off any network and bluetooth interfaces.

NDSP plugins I run in 96 kHz, 192 or 128 samples (DAW/standalone).
