# Crackling and popping primarily on overdrive sounds

Really liking the tones coming out of this plugin, but when I try and use any drive with the Amp Snob head I get loud crackles and pops during live monitoring, but when I actually record a track the crackles are gone.  
I’ve tried all the optimization methods put forward by neural and it shouldn’t be a processor issue as this is a new desktop, here are the specs anyway:  
i5 9600kf - 3.6Ghz  
focusrite scarlett 2i2  
16gb ddr4 ram  
Running REAPER

Just annoying as I really like the tones!

Hey @elliot.linsey. Did you check [this guide](https://support.neuraldsp.com/help/windows-optimization)? What sample rate/buffer size are you using?
