Cloud-Swappable Drive Algorithms & Universal Drive Engine for Nano Cortex

While the Nano Cortex delivers incredible tone in a compact form factor, the single Neural Capture slot leaves a clear dilemma for users: keeping the slot dedicated to an Amp Capture prevents players from using Drive Captures (e.g., Klon, Jan Ray, King of Tone).

Because internal flash memory and DSP constraints limit the number of built-in Virtual Blocks that can be hardcoded into NanOS, we propose a flexible software solution: Cloud-Swappable Drive Profiles via a Universal Drive Engine.

Key Proposal Details

1. Universal Drive Engine (Parametric Block)

Rather than hardcoding dozens of individual C++ Drive algorithms into the firmware, introduce a versatile, highly tweakable Universal Drive Block in the Pre-FX slot.

Deep Parameter Control: Include adjustable clipping curves (Symmetrical / Asymmetrical), Mid Frequency sweep, Bass/Treble EQ, and Compression/Blend.

Zero Additional DSP Overhead: Running one parametric engine keeps DSP usage 100% predictable and light across all presets.

2. Cloud Profile Swapping (KB-sized Parameter Presets)

Allow users to swap virtual Drive models using small profile parameters stored on the Cortex Cloud rather than replacing firmware code:

Preset Profiles: Neural DSP (or community users) can publish profiles matching boutique pedals (e.g., Jan Ray Profile, Klon Clean Boost Profile, Timmy Dynamic Profile).

Dynamic Mapping: Users can download these lightweight parameter profiles directly via the Cortex Cloud App and map them to their Pre-FX slot or assign them to the physical AMOUNT knob and MIDI CC controls.

Why This Benefits the Platform

Solves the “Single Capture Slot” Limitation: Players can keep their Capture Slot dedicated to direct Amps while gaining access to boutique Transparent Overdrives in Pre-FX.

Bypasses Storage Constraints: Eliminates the need to bloat the NanOS firmware size with dozens of heavy algorithms.

Enhances MIDI Integration: Allows full MIDI CC toggling and parameter mapping (e.g., via Morningstar MC8 PRO) for seamless live performance without audio gaps.
