Thanks for this, I wish Neural DSP would put half the interest you put into their Nano Cortex customers.

I worked on my app again and got preset changing via Bluetooth working, Its much faster now and you can rename presets, access all captures from the library. Maybe this helps to advance the development

Also added a tag function to the library. When you click on it you can search with tags and types

First public release of the unofficial Nano Cortex Editor, a desktop editor for the Neural DSP Nano Cortex over Bluetooth.

Unofficial community project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Neural DSP.
The editor writes to your device. Use it at your own risk and back up your presets first.

:sparkles: Features

  • Input gate on/off and reduction
  • Pre FX 1–2 and Post FX 1–3: choose the model, switch blocks on/off and edit every parameter
  • Knobs update live and without lag (drag or scroll, click a value to type it in)
  • Quad-Cortex-style colour and icon for each effect category

Captures

  • 25 capture slots in 5 banks, capture on/off, capture volume
  • Access to the capture library on the device (factory and user captures)

  • On/off switching for Capture, Cab, each FX block and the Gate in three modes: Heel-Toe, Switch (with latch emulation) and Stop, each with an adjustable delay

Other

  • “Log kopieren” exports a connection log for troubleshooting
  • Runs as a Mac app or in Chrome/Edge (index.html)

:package: Installation (Mac)

  1. Download Nano-Cortex-Editor-1.0.0-mac-arm64.zip below and unzip it.
  2. Move Nano Cortex Editor.app to Applications.
  3. The app is not signed with an Apple Developer ID. On the first start, right-click it and choose Open.
If macOS says the app is damaged, run this once in Terminal:
    xattr -cr "/Applications/Nano Cortex Editor.app"
  4. Allow Bluetooth access, switch on the Nano Cortex and click Connect.

Requirements: macOS on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). Developed with Nano Cortex firmware 2.2.1.

:warning: Known limitations

  • No Intel build yet, and the app is not notarized
  • Loading a library capture or cab replaces the content of that slot (the previous one stays in the library)
  • Cortex Cloud features (account, downloading captures) are not included; use the official app for those
  • Pedal pictures are not included in this release

Protocol notes from rixrix/deskop-nano-cortex (Apache-2.0) helped a lot.

Mate, you´re nailing it. Thank you!

Bluetooth features are great for guys like me. I have the Nano on the floor, attached to a pedalboard, and also my Nano´s USB port is already used by a MIDI controller… so needing USB cable for preset change made me to not use your editor. But with bluetooth being more capable, this will be in my desktop.

One question: does bluetooth allow editing effects parameters?

Yes, full edit, just by connecting it via bluetooth. Effects, renaming presets, loading all captures on device etc

I’m testing everything right now, so feel free to test the app and any feedback is appreciated. Right now I’m trying to get the knobs controllable via midi to use midi controllers to turn the knobs and maybe an export function to morningstar controllers.

I´m really impressed by your work. It´s incredible what some wise guys like you are able to develop. Kudos and thanks in spades, mate.

I’ve got help from claude, I alone wouldn’t be able to pull this of.

But it works like a charm so far and I hope it helps to tide us over, till soon arrvives

Hmmm… My Nano doesn’t seem to be recognized. Rixrix editor picks it immediately in Brave Browser (don’t even need to search for it, just connect). But this one finds a lot of Bluetooth devices on Edge (on Brave it just does nothing), and none of them seem to be the Nano.

I’m sure I’m doing something wrong…

Is it connect to something else? Is Nano Cortex in the Name? Did you try the Chrome browser or the full app?

Maybe the Rixrix editor is still connected? Are the circles moving when pressing exit and capture on the device?

Here is a link to the simulation of the cortex controller board.

Is that connecting properly?

Nothing else was connected to the Nano through Bluetooth.

The Rixrix was uninstalled previously because it cannot edit or change presets through Bluetooth, and I can’t use usb unless I disconnect my usb midi controller and detach the Nano from my pedalboard to put it close to the pc.

Tried it in Brave and Edge.

Didn’t have time to try much more… I spent 10 or 15 minutes and then just had to move on to continue my tasks…
