\*note- this request described below, is impossible hardware-wise. Revised request, If Neural created a USB hub/dock that allowed more I/O options (interchangeable in’s/out’s).

Another option would be to add the “capture” jack (1/4”) to the i/o.

As it stands, the QC (Analog) has 4 inputs (xlr 1/2, 1/4” RET 1/2) and 6 outputs (xlr out 1/2, 1/4” out 3/4, and 1/4” Send 1/2). I’m making the request to personalize that by making the RET/Sends interchangeable (in to out, out to in, or any combination) in the Settings → Device Options.

There theoretically could be a number of reasons to do this (why it would be cool).

Increasing inputs = Having 4 separate instruments (2 stereo ins, 2 ts instruments)

Increasing outputs = Having a Neural expo where Rabea is plugged into 4 separate stereo rigs (4 L & 4 R)

If I had to guess the returns only have ADCs and the sends only have DACs for conversion from/to analog, making this impossible from a hardware side.

If that is not the case this would be brilliant!

Send and return jacks have come up elsewhere in the forum. Someone (sorry, I forget who) confirmed with NDSP that the Return jacks have 1 ADC each, and the Send jacks have 1 DAC each. So having that many stereo ins/outs is not possible.

Anyway, I do think increased flexibility with I/O is a good idea overall.

This could be an awesome feature!

Re : “(sorry, I forget who)” or you’re being nice (appreciate)… that was me.

> response from neural dsp support team: Thanks for getting in touch. Stereo FX loops are only possible in Quad Cortex by using both FX loop ports (Send - Return 1 / Send - Return 2). Returns are unbalanced high impedance inputs. Using TRS jacks here enables users to connect balanced equipment without shorting the “cold” side of the connected signal to ground. This can help maintain the signal quality and protect the connected equipment from damage if the outputs are not protected against shor…

I guess my short-sightedness was regarding the email response from neural about stereo trs. When they said 1 adc per return, I just assumed that it referred to mono vs stereo (1 adc/dac vs 2). Short of a hardware update (qc v2). This request is impossible.

How about a neural designed USB hub/dock (like those pesky dongles apple seems to make me buy)? That could allow all sorts of i/o routing. I’m sure theres plenty of customers that would shell out 2-400 for a few more in/outs.
